What is the Proxy Check test?
The Proxy Checker tries to detect if you are using a proxy, meaning that this page is accessed through a proxy server that acts as an intermediate between your proxy client (web browser) and xmyip.com.
XMyIP Proxy detection test explained
XMyIP.com performs two types of checks in order to detect the web requests coming from a proxy server: HTTP header test and IP database check.
Important! At this time, the XMyIP online proxy checker does not perform a port scanner test. Also, it does not work for IPv6 addresses.
Proxy header check
The test looks for the following HTTP headers that are sometimes used by HTTP proxies:
Proxy database check
Anti-fraud services continuously monitor the IP addresses of public and private proxies and the proxy information is stored in databases.
The XMyIP proxy test queries two IP databases containing proxy information: IP2Location and IPQualityScore. If the IP address is seen as a proxy in the IPQualityScore database, the Fraud Score (on a scale from 0 to 100, where 0 represents the lowest risk) is also shown.
I am using a proxy, but it is not detected. Why?
It is possible that XMyIP proxy test does not detect some proxies.
Firstly, high anonymity proxies (elite proxies) do not use HTTP headers. Thus they pass the Proxy Header Check.
Secondly, IP databases have their limits and usually list only popular proxies (free or paid). If the proxy you are using was recently set up then, most likely, the proxy IP is not (yet) listed in the IP databases.
In order or find our more information regarding your real IP address take the IP Address Lookup test or the Tor IP Check.
How do I hide my IP with a proxy?
There are several options to hide your IP with a proxy. You may use web proxies, HTTP proxies, or SOCKS proxies. You may find them on free proxy lists or by subscribing to a proxy service.
